Ikut Demonstrasi, Mahasiswa Tidak Dihukum
UNY menjamin tidak akan ada hukuman bagi mahasiswa yang melakukan demonstrasi ke dalam atau ke luar kampus. Seperti yang dikatakan Staf Bidang Kemahasiswaan, Drs. Budi Sulistya, bahwa tidak ada alasan untuk menghukum atau mengeluarkan mahasiswa dari kampus karena melakukan demonstrasi. “ Demo itu kan sebuah media untuk menyampaikan aspirasi. Sepanjang tidak menyalahi aturan, maka tidak akan dikeluarkan.” Ungkapnya, ketika ditemui di kantornya Senin (13/04).
Ia juga menambahkan bahwa aturan yang dimaksud tidak harus sampai berurusan dengan polisi. “Ya ndak usah sampai ke polisi lah. UNY kan bisa melakukan pendekatan kepada mahasiswa dengan cara yang lebih baik. Kalaupun ada Demo, berarti ada kesalahan komunikasi antara mahasiswa dengan pihak kampus,” tambahnya.
Sejalan dengan Budi Sulis, Halili S,Pd, dosen FISE mengungkapkan bahwa mahasiswa yang tengah menyampaikan aspirasi dengan demonstrasi tidak bisa dikeluarkan. “Kampus itu kan sebagai tempatnya civitas akademika, jadi pendekatan yang harus dihadirkan untuk melakukan komunikasi kepada mahasiswa yang melakukan demonstrasi, ya kalau menyalahi aturan, ya dengan melakukan pendekatan secara akademis. Kalau langsung di D.O, saya tidak setuju itu,” jelasnya,
Sejak pemberitaan dikeluarkannya dua mahasiswa Universitas Teknik Yogyakarta (UTY) merebak ke permukaan karena demonstrasi, sejumlah mahasiswa dan alumni UNY mengaku khawatir hal serupa akan terjadi di UNY. Hal ini diungkapkan Dani Supangat, mahasiswa Pendidikan Teknik Sipil dan Perencanaan mengatakan bahwa kalau sampai kejadian di UTY juga diikuti oleh UNY, maka itu sama saja akan menghambat proses belajar mahasiswa berdemokrasi. “Jangan sampai terjadi. Cukup yang di UTY saja,” harapnya.
Mengamini Dani, Fajar Wahyu Nugroho, alumni UNY, angkatan 2005 juga mengharapkan agar UNY tidak mengikuti UTY dalam menyikapi mahasiswa ketika menyampaikan aspirasi. “Kasihan nanti, mahasiswa itu tempatnya berproses. Kalau sampai dikeluarkan gara-gara proses itu, maka akan menutup kesempatannya untuk belajar secara akademis di UNY” (Swadesta A. Wasesa)
